Shaft Seals (Oil Seals)
Radial Shaft Seal Details
Elring radial lip seals with PTFE-sealing lips are ready-to-install sealing elements achieving their sealing effect through radial pressure acting on the shaft. Sealing action in the installation groove is achieved by press-fit according to DIN 3760. Elring radial lip seals with PTFE-sealing lips are primarily used for sealing rotary shafts. The basic design of the seal comprises an inner and outer angular ring, an elastomer secondary seal, the PTFE-sealing lip and the protective lip (for type HN 2580). The necessary radial contact pressure
is achieved through proper selection of PTFE-compounds, sealing lip design as well as special manufacturing technology.
The outer angular ring and the sealing lip are connected by an axially pre-loaded elastomer sealing disc or a temperature- and chemically resistant solid connection for special application requirements.
To cover a maximum range of applications, standard series have been developed. Type HN 2580 is primarily used for non-pressurized service and/or low excessive pressures, while type HN 2390 is primarily used with pressurized media.
