Sealing and Guiding Elements for Compressors and Condensers
Materials and Compounds

ElringKlinger has developed a systems series of special PTFE compounds with precisely adapted filler content and processing technology, resulting in optimum compound recommendations meeting even toughest application requirements.
The following is a selection of tried and tested compound/material combinations included in this series:

Compound No
Compound
Fillers
HS 11018 glass fiber/graphite
Standard compound for process gases (also synthesis gases) for pistons and guide rings. Pressure differences up to 200 bar.
HS 11035 carbon
Extremely pressure-resistant PTFE-compound. Good wear resistance under high pressures.
HS 17020 carbon
Suitable for air, N2, HE under low load conditions. For piston and guide rings and PTFE-guide band surfaces.
HS 17027 carbon/graphite
For dry gases. Used with piston and guide rings and PTFE-guide band surfaces. Extremely pressure-resistant.
HS 17100 special compound
Used for compressor/condensor shaft seals. Low friction and excellent wear resistance.
HS 21027 carbon/graphite
Suitable for extremely dry gases and low-lube operating conditions as well as oil-free air. For piston and guide rings.
HS 21029 special compound
Primarily used for memory packings. Low wear on opposing surface material.
HS 21037 special compound
For use in dry-running air condensers (oil-free), for sealing and guiding rings, memory packings and shaft seals. Excellent abrasion resistance.

Please note:
Compounds HS 11018, HS 17020, HS 17027 and HS 21027 have been tested and certified by BAM (German Federal Agency for Material Investigations) for use with oxygen. Compounds HS 17020, HS 17027 and HS 17100 conform to BGA- (German Federal Health Agency) recommendations.

Innovations in plastics – for over 40 years we have been one of the technology leaders for seals and engineering design elements. For our customers around the world we develop and produce solutions that stand the test of practical application: from PTFE and PTFE-compounds, thermoset and other high-performance plastics as well as PTFE-composite components including plastics or metals. As single, custom solutions, up to dimensions of 3,000 mm, or from an extensive portfolio of standard series. Our products can be found in virtually any industry as well as in medical technology. Our merger with Venus and the integration of the Venus product portfolio now puts us in a position to offer you PTFE processing capabilities that rank among the most extensive in the world. Benefit from our expanded capacities to deliver complete solutions from the semi-finished product through to the functional solution custom-tailored to your needs. Your previous points of contact are ready to serve you with additional options and greater flexibility. Together, we’ll make the best of plastics for you. PTFE plays a key role in this – a compound with unique properties for engineering applications, even under extreme conditions.
